ART SURFACES 
ACETATE
Superior products (with lower costs) have largely replaced actual acetate. You'll find them here in a variety of types and thicknesses. Some are in pads, some in rolls, some in individual sheets.
ART FABRIC
That's what they call it, but it's actually paper backed by a waterproof plastic sheet which also makes it nearly tearproof. It's available in either 4'x50' rolls, or by the foot. Uses: banners, signs, backdrops, and wherever else your imagination takes you.
ARTISTS PADS
With almost 150 types, styles, and sizes of pads in stock, we can satisfy nearly any requirement. As the preferred brand of most local art teachers, Strathmore is most heavily represented, but we carry other brands as well. A buying tip: Compare both number of sheets and weight when choosing between two pads. In general, "drawing" paper is heavier than "sketch" paper, but that may apply only within a single manufacturer's line. Some makers produce a drawing paper of only 50-lb. weight; others may make a 70-lb. sketch paper. Don't be misled by name alone.
CANVAS
In one word, our selection is enormous. In stretched canvas alone we have more than 100 types/styles/sizes. (Our smallest is 3"x4", our largest is 5'x6'.) Add three types of roll canvas (sold in full rolls or by the foot), 18 sizes of canvas panels, and canvas in pad form to the mix. Shapes include the familiar rectangles, rounds and ovals plus two recent additions, triangles and hexagons. Three styles requiring no frame are included, and the more popular sizes are available in either regular cotton duck, ultra smooth duck, or Belgian linen. One specialty item we should mention is floorcloth canvas, a significantly heavier weight which will hold up under foot traffic.
CANVAS ALTERNATIVES
Gessoed Masonite is the most popular alternative to canvas, and we have in sizes from 8x10 to 18x24. An alternative suitable strictly for practice is canvas paper. Available in pad form, its texture resembles canvas and it's treated to accept most paints. Still another alternative is illustration board, and naturally any surface that will accept paint is a potential target, as evidenced by many of the wall murals throughout the world. (Please provide your own wall; We don't carry them.)
DECORATIVE PAPERS
You'll find more than 60 different Oriental papers available by the sheet, and many domestic offerings as well. Add Egyptian papyrus (a great surface for unique acrylic paintings) to the mix, plus low-cost packs of smaller-sized decorative papers, and you're likely to find any requirement in this line here.
DRAFTING FILM
Stocked only in 25x40, 5-mil, matte surfaced one side.
DRAWING PAPERS
Any paper with tooth can be used for drawing, so include the pastel papers, print papers, and most of the pads listed elsewhere in this section. You can also add100-lb. drawing paper in 42" x 30' rolls.
FOAMBOARD
Whether it's for frame-backing, displays, signs, or whatever, Red Swan has Ocala's widest selection of foamboard. With sizes as small as 5" x 7" and as large as 4' x 8' and a choice in most sizes of regular or acid-free, you'll fill almost any requirement here. Another foamboard staple is Black on Black. If you guessed that both the core and facings are anything except black, please go stand in the corner.
FRAME BACKER
When the foamboard listed above is too thick, we can furnish regular or acid-free picture mounting board in a variety of sizes. Please, please, please don't use corrugated cardboard. It's nearly always highly acidic.
FRISK FILM
Used primarily by airbrush artists, this low-tack clear vinyl adhesive film is available in rolls, packs, or individual sheets.
FUNKY FILM
It's stretching to list these glittery, self-adhesive sheets on this page, but they don't have a real home. Sixteen colors are available, all in 6" x 8" size, plus one glow-in-the-dark and one double-stick adhesive variety. Their use? Anything you can imagine.
GLASSINE PAPER
A transluscent, neutral pH paper used for slip sheets between stored art works. 36" rolls, 10 yards long.
ILLUSTRATION BOARD
Available in 30x40 sheets, assorted brands, hot press or cold press, in a variety of weights. Some varieties are also available in half-size.
INKJET PAPERS
Print your artwork on 8½x11 sheets of textured or metallic papers, or on real canvas.
LAMINATING FILM
Self-adhesive clear laminate is carried in 9" x 12" sheets and in 24" x 12' rolls. The adhesives on both are aggressive and permanent. For the low-tack, removable variety see Frisk Film elsewhere on this page.
MAT BOARD
With more than 200 mat colors from three manufacturers continuously in stock you're almost sure to find your color here. Any color may be bought in full 32x40 sheets, half-sheets, or quarter sheets, and many colors are also available in sizes as small as 8x10.
MISCELLANEOUS PAPERS
Stocks include 32x40 barrier paper for framing, art-themed gift wrap (wrap it in Van Gogh when you can't afford to give a Van Gogh), artists ink jet papers, transgfer papers, scratchboard, crepe papers, artists tissue, construction paper, banner paper, fingerpaint paper, dollhouse wallpaper, metallic foil papers (a buying decision of which we are not especially proud, which means we'll sell them cheap), and a few rolls of 36" x 500' chartreuse fluorescent paper (another buying misstep) which you can have for a song.
ORIGAMI PAPER
Choose from more than 20 different types and sizes for this specialized art, and while you're at it, don't miss our big selection of how-to origami books.
PAPER BY THE FOOT
Ideal for backgrounds, kids art, and many other uses, one side of this this four-foot-wide paper is smooth for drawing, the other has tooth for painting with acrylics or tempera. Available in eight colors.
PARCHMENT PAPER
The calligrapher's choice, gold and white are available in packs of 8½ x 11 size. Pads containing four assorted colors of 8½ x 11 are another entry.
PASTEL PAPERS
Choose between Mi Teintes from Canson, Mil Tinte by Fabriano, Pure Paper by Strathmore, and a host of other conventional papers, or elect the soft elegance of velour paper, or a recent addition, Colorfix sanded pastel papers from Australia. All of the above are available as individual sheets, with some also carried in pad form.
PRINTMAKING PAPERS
Available in Stonehenge 22x30 (Warm White) and Rives BFK 280 (White or Cream). Also, in limited supply and discontinuing, Speedball print paper in 9x12 and 18x24.
RECYCLED PAPERS
In addition to many pads featuring papers to delight the "green" lobby, we have a good selection in larger sheets of a variety of types and textures from Strathmore.
STENCIL BOARD & FILMS
Clear polyester film in 7-mil, 20x25 and 15-mil, 18x24 can be bought by the sheet. Lighter clear stock is also available in rolls or in 30x40 sheets.
VELLUM PAPERS
Transluscent vellum papers for cards, envelopes, stamping, paper art, and the like carried in 8½x11 size, 12 colors. Vellum tracing papers available in pads only. Note that "vellum" also is used to refer to a toothed surface texture on some papers to distinguish them from smoother papers.
WATERCOLOR PAPERS
Leading brands carried start with Arches (in 90, 140, and 300 pound weights in hot press, cold press, and rough). All are available in full-size 22x30 inch sheets, and the 140-pound is also available in pads and blocks. (For the benefit of any who don't know, blocks are like pads, but are sealed on all four sides, making soaking unnecessary.) They're especially convenient for on-location painting). In addition we carry 260-pound Arches cold-press in 25.5x40 inch sheets.
Additional sheet stock available in 22x30 cold press includes two 140 pound Winsor & Newton products, Artists' and Cotman, Canson 100, a unique dual-surface paper that is cold press one side, rough on the other, and Strathmore 473, an economical practice paper. Canson 100 is also available in 300 pound weight, as is Strathmore's Gemini. A wide assortment of pads and blocks from assorted manufacturers can also be found here. And Lana paper, unobtainable for a time when Strathmore stopped distributing it, is again available now from Legion Paper.
Wet Media Film
Clear 4-mil polyester film treated on both sides to accept markers, watercolors, and other water-based products without beading or lifting. Available in 9x12 and 11x14 pads.
